Tampa Fishing Charters Early May
I have been running several of my Tampa Fishing Charters from the Gandy boat ramp. On May 2 I took Pat and Larry, they wanted to catch some trout or redfish. I decided to go after the trout so I headed north of the Gandy. Pat and Larry started catching trout immediately and very nice sized trout, but then the bite stopped so I pulled anchor and moved 10,20, or 30 yards and reanchored. I did this the entire time we were trout fishing and it worked. Pat and Larry wanted some fish for the table so we were fishing an area that didn’t have tons of fish but most of the fish were big. They had seven nice trout in the boat, 2 that were over 20 inches and most of the others just below 20 inches. Pat said that was plenty of trout so I headed to the redfish. Once we arrived at the redfish I started chumming for the redfish. Throwing dozens of live scaled sardines into the area. I then put a greenback under a cork for Pat and Larry, the redfish were exploding on all the chum baits. That is when the fun started a redfish would explode on a bait, so Pat and/or Larry would immediately throw on top of the spot and “FISH ON” and the drag would start screaming. They were able to win most of the battles against the redfish. They had a great day on the water.
