Tampa Bay Trout Fishing
In the past couple of weeks most of my Tampa bay fishing charters have been out of Ruskin, Fl. We have been snook fishing, redfishing, and trout fishing mostly in the Little Manatee River.
The trout and redfish bite in the Little Manatee River has been very good. The best snook bite has been during the incoming tide, fishing with live greenbacks. Size ranging from 12 inches to 36 inches. The snook bite should stay good until we have a hard freeze.
I have ran a few charters targeting trout all around the Tampa Bay fishing region, fishing the residental canals around Apollo Beach and also in the Clearwater area. The trout have been biting very good in those areas and should continue to get better.
The trout bite in January and February is usually unbelievable. This is a great time of the year to fish, especially if you are wanting some good table fare.
What’s Hot: Trout, Trout, Trout is definitely on fire around the Tampa Bay fishing grounds and should stay that way until the end of February. Catching good numbers and good size. Snook are biting good on incoming tide in the rivers.
What’s Warm: Redfish are in small groups anywhere from 1 to 10 fish. During the winter the water becomes very clear, so a stealthy approach is a must.
